COACHES

Sterling Brown, Performance Coach, Football / Baseball Instructor

Sterling played college football and baseball at the University of Richmond where he was twice named to the All-Conference team as a wide receiver, and once honorable mention All-American. He remains in the top 5 in several receiving categories (3rd in career receptions). Coach Brown coached at Florida State University as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and worked with several all-americans, several professional players, and one super bowl champion.

Brett Beasley, Performance Coach

Coach Brett has been doing sports performance training with Top Dog Sports since 2008. Brett played varsity baseball, basketball, and football during high school. Brett graduated in May 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology from Georgia Southern University. During his time as a sports performance trainer Coach Brett has worked with professional baseball players Calix Crabbe (San Diego Padres), Dexter Fowler (Colorado Rockies), Luke Gordon (Los Angeles Angels), and Nick Green (Los Angeles Angels).

Brandon Lynch, Performance Coach, Football Coach

Brandon joins Top Dog Sports with a great deal of playing and coaching experience. After starring at Middle Tennessee State University as a defensive back and earning a degree in history, Brandon went on to play in the NFL. While at MTSU he earned honors such as Defensive Player of the Week, and Best Defensive Player in the Sun Belt Conference. Following his NFL career with the Colts and Titans, Brandon spent time in the Canadian Football League, where he won a Grey Cup Championship ring. Brandon serves on the Board of Advisors for the Scholar Baller organization, and is also involved with the YMCA as a motivational speaker.

Matt Auers,  Performance Coach

Matt attended Kennesaw State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in exercise and health science. While attending KSU, he ran Cross Country and Track and Field, winning two conference championships. He is currently working on his Master’s degree in Exercise Science at KSU.

Lou George, Football Coach

Lou has been a Personal Trainer for several years and is currently our Head Elite Performance. He received a scholarship to run track for the University of Mississippi but chose instead to walk on to the football team at North Carolina Central University. At NCCU, Lou became a 4 year starter at safety and was named All-American his junior and senior years. During his senior year, Lou was also named NCCU Student Athlete of the year. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education.

Nathan Booker, Lacrosse

Prior to coaching at Top Dog Sports, Nathan was an Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Northview High School in Duluth. He was a three-sport letterman in high school (soccer, track and lacrosse) at Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia, and he played collegiate soccer at Andrew Junior College and Georgia State University. He then gravitated back to lacrosse and has been playing club lacrosse locally since 1991. Nathan holds a Level 2 Field Lacrosse Coaching Certificate (NCCP) from Canada and is currently studying at the United States Sports Academy working towards a Bachelors degree in Sport Coaching.

Jason Jones, Baseball (Hitting, Pitching, Fielding)

Jason was an all-state player while in high school at Osborne HS, then became an All-American player at Kennesaw State University. While at Kennesaw State, Jason won a National Championship in 1995 and was named Division II Player of the Year in 1999. Drafted in 1999 by the Texas Rangers, Jason moved quickly through the minor league ranks and was named to the Pacific Coast league (AAA) All Star team in 2003. Later in 2003 Jason joined the Major League Rangers and played in 40 games at 1B and OF.

Seth La Fera, Baseball (Hitting, Fielding)

Seth attended Sprayberry HS and then Kennesaw State University and played in two college World Series. He was a two-time All-Conference winner and then went on to play for 10 years in the Italian Baseball League. He earned two Gold Glove awards, was a two-time Olympian with the Italian National Team (Sydney and Athens), played in the 2006 World Baseball Classic, and played on three European Championship teams played 9 seasons for the Italian National team.

Jason Starr, Baseball (Pitching, Hitting, Fielding)

Jason grew up in Tampa, Fl, and attended King High School, where he received 1st team All-District and Western Conference honors in 2001. Jason earned a scholarship to South Florida Community College where he played for 2 years. Jason then transferred to Georgia Southwestern State University, where he recorded a 10-3 record with a 3.30 ERA his junior year, and a 10-2 record with a 2.31 ERA and 110 strikeouts his senior year. Jason also received 1st Team All-Region and 3rd Team All-American honors his senior year at Georgia Southwestern State University.

JJ Thomas, Baseball (Hitting, Fielding)

JJ attended Wheeler High School and was drafted by Kansas City Royals in 1994. Attended Georgia Tech from 1995-97and met the criteria for the Hall of Fame. Honors included First-team all-ACC (1997), second-team all-ACC (1995, 1996),andNCAAall-region selection (1997). JJ was then drafted by the Houston Astros in the 15th round and played first base for them from 1997-2000. JJ hit 59 home runs during his minor league career.

Broddrick Archie, Baseball (Hitting, Fielding)

Broddrick is a graduate of Campbell High School where he receives the Most Athletic Award while there. He was a 3 year all county baseball, basketball and football player, and also named best offensive player for football and baseball. Broddrick went on to play baseball at Southern University also has some professional baseball experience. Coach Archie comes to Top Dog Sports with 3 years coaching experience (individual and teams) and “Simply the best” coaching certification. Broddrick is a hitting and fielding fundamental expert and has helped players with college and professional level preparation. Broddrick is currently the Athletic Coordinator for the City of Smyrna.

Darryl Stephens, Baseball (Hitting, Fielding)

Darryl attended St. Pius High School from 1993-199 and was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 1997. Darryl set his High School's records for home runs, batting average, RBI’s,  and stolen bases. He is a member of Braves 400 Club (All-Atlanta Team). Darryl then attended the University of Central Florida from 1998 -2000 (NCAA All Tournament Team 1999) and Georgia Southern University in 2001(Southern Conference Player of the Month, All-Conference Team, NCAA All Tournament Team).
